This piece is a companion to a previous artwork that I made, which explored the emotions relating to letting go of people, places, and things that once held great importance in my life. Similarly, this piece is centered around the idea of letting go, but is portrayed in a more positive light. Instead of the main character of the piece grieving over the heavy things she can no longer hold on to, she is walking towards a literal light source that represents the joy that is found from leaving things behind that no longer bring peace to her life. The flowers chosen to be included still represent the mixed emotions associated with taking that courageous step forward, but form a pathway towards healing rather than acting as barriers.
