About Callie

Callie is an artist and art educator based in Providence, RI who works as a high school art teacher in Worcester, MA. Her art is inspired by nature and personal experiences, featuring vibrant colors, emotive female forms, playful patterns, and elements of mixed media and collage.

Callie obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education in 2016 from Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA, where she developed her own artistic style and explored new forms like printmaking and oil painting. Callie then pursued her Master's Degree in Art and Design Education at the Rhode Island School of Design. Through education courses, thesis writing, and teaching as a part of RISD's Project Open Door, she deepened her knowledge of teaching art. Additionally, she experimented with new art forms such as intaglio printmaking, egg tempera painting, and alternative photo techniques.

After graduating, Callie interned at the Nantucket Island School of Design and the Arts (NISDA) in the Summer of 2018, facilitating art classes for youth and teens. She started her first full-time teaching position at North High School in Worcester, MA in the fall of 2018 and has remained there since. In 2020, she received the Massachusetts Exceptional New Art Educator of the Year award. She also teaches as an Adjunct Professor for Quinsigamond Community College's Early College High program.

Throughout her teaching career, Callie has continued her personal art practice, showcasing her work at galleries in Worcester and Providence, including ArtsWorcester, Worcester Center for Crafts, AS220, and more. Her preferred mediums include acrylic and egg tempera painting, block printing, collage, and pottery, but she remains open to exploring new techniques. Callie has consistently attended studio classes to expand her skills in digital drawing, jewelry-making, screen printing, sewing, and her current passion, ceramics. She is currently a member at Anyhow Studio in Providence where she creates functional wheel-thrown pieces.

Callie sees herself as a perpetual learner, always eager to experiment, practice, and refine new art techniques, aiming to produce unique and meaningful artwork.
